A Sideswipe Attack in ModNation Racers.
Sideswipes are attacks made by moving the right stick in the direction you want to sideswipe. They are used as an alternative to using weapons to damage enemies.
In ModNation Racers for the PlayStation 3, sideswipes require 2,500 Boost Points, in ModNation Racers for the PlayStation Portable they require 10,000 Boost Points, while in ModNation Racers: Road Trip there is no boost cost. If somebody using a Sideswipe attack hits an opponent and the racer is not using a Shield when in collision with the sideswiping user, the player who is sideswiped is knocked out.
Successful Sideswipe attacks cause the user to emit yellow rings like a Sonic Bomb in the PS3 version and in Road Trip. In ModNation Racers for the PlayStation Portable, sideswiped opponents will spin out. Successful attacks will also give 3,750 points in the PS3 game or Road Trip, or 15,000 points in ModNation Racers for the PlayStation Portable. Players that successfully sideswipe a racer will hear an interface sound confirming the player sideswipe. The player will also see sideswipe text on the right of the screen, confirming that the sideswipe was successful and who the player Sideswiped.

Sideswipe attacks count as "Takedowns" as part of career objectives. In ModNation Racers and ModNation Racers: Road Trip, it is required to complete elite takedown objectives, while in ModNation Racers for the PlayStation Portable a sideswipe or Stomp Takedown can be used to fulfill the objectives.
